I should entitle this:
WHAT WAS I THINKING?
When we signed up for the Dolphin Swim, the girls were also going to go to Dunn's River Falls - a famous and popular attraction in Jamaica - there was a half day option which we liked so of course I decided to go too!
Left the hotel at 8:00 am and drove east this time for about 2 hours. Another opportunity to see the countryside - the Falls are in the Parish of St. Ann.
As we got closer and got our instruction about what would take place I thought Yikes! I had thought that I could enjoy the Falls - get a bit wet - take a few pictures etc.!
Well, we climbed the Falls in a line holding on to the ones in our group - half way up I didn't think I could finish - I said I'm one week away from my 65th birthday! Our guide said yes you will - I'll help! So in the end I did climb - and the second part was easier than the first! I have the video to prove it --and it wasn't photo shopped!!
We got back to the hotel at 3:00 time for a rest, another swim and then supper. And now a chance to write in the blog.
Tomorrow is my last full day here. Not sure if I'll write anything tomorrow.

Monday, January 31st - Dolphin Day!
What an exciting day! We left the hotel at 10:30 am and were driven west to the town of Lucea to the new Dolphin Cove. After our introduction, we headed down to the water, donned our life jacket and jumped into the water! Our first encounter was being pushed through the water by our feet! 2 dolphins noses were pressed at the bottom of our feet and they carried us forward! It was a great experience and I have a video of the entire thing!
The ride to Lucea, about 45 minutes away, gave us a chance to see more of the countryside and a couple of the small towns.
Back at the hotel in the late afternoon for more swimming and an early night!
Tuesday, was a day to relax and enjoy the sun, the water, the food, the drinks and I treated myself to a massage. One of my favourite drinks - the Pina Colada!!

Saturday, January 29th
First full day in Montego Bay. The weather report was right - it is a cloudy day but still wonderfully warm.
After a late breakfast we met with the Air Canada Vacations representative - giving us our tips for a great vacation. My two new friends, Courtenay and Sam have kind of adopted me!. They signed up (and me too) for the shuttle into Montego Bay - a good day to do some shopping. They also talked me into going for a swim with the Dolphins!! So that will be for Monday. Probably will never get another chance.
The shopping trip especially to the craft market was an experience - the others on the shuttle used the word intense!! All of the men and women wanting you to buy from them! "Just one look." "Come and see!"
One managed to convince me to put a little beaded braid in my hair - check the picture!
After the trip it was time to get started on the cocktails - all interesting names to try! The hummingbird, the 4th of July, the Jamaica Smile and so on!
Finally it was time to get in that water. An evening swim was great and of course the hot tub!! Then a late supper and a time to enjoy the great Jamaican music at the entertainment.

Jamaica!! Sunny and warm! Arrived at the hotel and was settled in the room by 6:00 pm. My room is on the 10th floor with a great view of the ocean.
Views from my room. |
Met two young women on the plane and they ended up being at the same hotel so we got settled and headed to the dining room for supper. We were hungry after the long flight. Food was great at the Buffet.
Of course we had to start sampling all the fancy drinks!
The dessert bar that greets you at the entrance! |
The resort is very nice. I'm glad I chose this one.
One of the pools in the evening. |
The large lobby is all open areas with the warm breezes blowing through.
